Miles Ballaam
Miles Ballaam (with his mother and two brothers in Townsville) are descendants of Charles Stuart Browning and Arthur Robertson Browning. He was born in Mkwaya Tanzania (not very far from where in 1916, Charles Stuart Browning was killed in action). After 14 years moving around Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania (his father was a civil engineer who moved with the projects, among them the Owen Falls Dam in Jinja), he later graduated from the HMS Conway (a Merchant Navy Officers Training College in North Wales). Miles went to sea initially with the Booth Line as a cadet (trading in the West Indies and 2000 miles up the Amazon), then on tramp steamers around the globe. In 1971, He returned to Australia as a second officer and for ten years took up stevedoring in Papua New Guinea, followed by a four year stint in the Queensland Police Force. He then moved to the civil engineering construction industry and recently retired with his wife to Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast after participating in many amazing Australian civil projects as a Contracts Manager.
Miles is the Family Correspondent for Browning family history and connections with the Barchams.
